How do you take a plain bottle of hot sauce and transform it into an "O Magazine" success story?
Go To WebsiteCreative Direction.
Design Priorities:
1. Create a name for this product.
2. Create a playful presentation that would catch the eye of Oprah's team.
Brainstorming the name:
Hot sauce is a good kind of pain. It's tasty, but boy it hurts.
Getting into "O" Magazine: During this time, it was well known that Oprah and Beyoncé were friends. And in the brainstorming session I looked into songs from Beyoncé's album "Lemonade". The lyrics “I got hot sauce in my bag/swag” stood out for obvious reasons and ideas quickly evolved from the bomb to a stack of dynamite.
How do you transform classic comic book characters and 80's teen hits movies into booklets that are both well-organized and aligned with the brand's visual storytelling?
Art Direction, Graphic Design.
I worked alongside the Creative Director to pull these booklets together for the licensees to use accordingly.
Client says "Hey Kate" can you design something outside the box?
Creative Direction, Product Design.
Product design is always evolving. Occasionally, I'm invited to contribute my ideas, and it's often unpredictable what will catch on. For example, these bobbleheads were sold at Wal-Mart for several years. In my opinion, the in-store display still holds value, but it never received approval due to budget constraints.
